Former Arsenal star Jack Wilshere has officially put pen to paper and signed for London rivals West Ham, it has been confirmed.

After seventeen years of service and countless days on the sidelines with injuries, Wilshere took the heartbreaking decision to leave the Emirates and seek a fresh start after Unai Emery could not guarantee him regular first team football.

The likes of Liverpool, AC Milan and Juventus have all been linked with a move for Wilshere, but he has decided to stay in London and sign for the Hammers.

And he has admitted his delight at finally signing for a new club, and staying in the Premier League.

“It feels good, it feels special,” Wilshere told West Ham’s official website.

“People will have seen the picture of me in a West Ham shirt and I’ve got good memories of my childhood supporting West Ham, watching them at Upton Park.

“It feels good and of course my family and a few of my friends are West Ham fans so everyone’s buzzing.

“The fans, of course – everyone knows how big West Ham’s fanbase is – and especially in this new Stadium. Not many clubs could fill it week in, week out, and West Ham do.

“I want to be playing here in front of the Hammers, and my bond I’ve had with the Club over my childhood will make it even more special.”

Despite his injury concerns, Wilshere managed 38 appearances for the Gunners last season and was ready to finally ready to lead Arsenal into a new era.

But Emery was not convinces, despite former players hitting out at the prospect of seeing him playing for another Premier League side.
