I had always known I would perform with Wizkid –Davido

Hip-hop sensation, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, has told Saturday Beats that performing with Wizkid was something he had known would always happen at some point.

Speaking through his manager, Kamal Ajiboye, the artiste revealed that there has never been any rift between the two of them as widely claimed and that they have always had respect for each other.

Kamal said: “They were both at the venue of a show and the atmosphere was very good. It provided a great avenue for them to finally connect. It was something Davido always knew would happen at one point or another. It was never impossible for the two of them to work together.”

Thursday’s performance during an All Stars show organised by global whisky brand, Remy Martin, in Lagos, is the very first time both acts would share the same stage. Fans of both musicians, who had been looking forward to this collaboration for several years, could not hide their excitement on social media.

One commentor on nairaland.com, a popular news and networking platform, IamChuzzy, said: “When you become an adult, you behave like one and quit thinking like a kid! They were simply showing off traces of kids which they actually were then! They are now Men!, while another fan on same website, pretydiva, described it as “One of the biggest news in the entertainment industry this year.”

Earlier in July, Davido had announced a collaboration with Wizkid on a new song during the MTV MAMA awards 2015. This is seen as a major step in having the highly talented artistes work more closely together in the future.
