Commission probes police officers over missing N1.8m

The Police Service Commission Committee on Public Complaint on Police Conduct has  commenced an investigation into alleged stealing and diversion of N1.8m by policemen attached to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.

The unnamed police officers were said to have taken away a car belonging to one Ikechukwu Nnamani in which the money was kept on September 30,2015, but the money was not recovered.

A statement by the spokesman, Police Service Commission, Ikechukwu Ani on Wednesday in Abuja, said the PSC committee headed by retired Supreme Court Justice, Olufunlola Adekeye was looking into the allegations against the police team led by Vincent Ejeh, a superintendent of police.

“Mr. Nnamani in a petition by his Solicitors, I.C. Ejiofor & Co, had complained that on the 30th of September, 2015, at about 9pm at Apo Bridge, along Area 1, Apo express way, he was stopped by a Police team led by Supol Vincent Ejeh as he was trying to drop a friend by the road side.

“He alleged that both his car which he locked and the N1.8m inside it were taken away and till today, he has faced persecution and intimidation in the hands of the police while trying to retrieve them.”

The statement added that the committee was also investigating five complaints against other police officers, noting that the PSC would henceforth treat with utmost seriousness cases from the public and even the police on personnel misconduct.
