2016: Okonkwo predicts national prosperity

The founder, The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, has said that in spite of the current economic doldrums in the country, year 2016 will be a year of “all sufficiency” for Nigeria.

Okonkwo, who admitted that all human economic theories and postulations were failing the world over, however admonished Nigerians put their hope of economic prosperity in God.

The bishop, who said this in his New Year message made available to our correspondent on Wednesday, stressed the need for Nigerians to be prayerful and to keep hope alive, as they looked forward to a great future.

According to him, the current socio-economic situation in the country demanded that “all Christians should trust God for all-round sufficiency in the coming year because daily, socio-economic theories and human postulations are falling apart before our very eyes.”

He added, “It is no longer about being astute, skilled or being a professional but it is now all about God and His infallible word.

“Daily, concepts and great ideologies are failing but it is only the word of God that cannot fail as it remains reliable and constant. It is, therefore, the connection you have with God, who has promised His sufficiency, that will stand in the coming year.”

Okonkwo urged the citizens to pray to God to give the political leaders the wisdom and the grace to steer the ship of the nation towards God’s intended destination.

He also urged them to pray for an end to insurgency, noting that there could be no development if there was no peace.

He also advised the average citizens to find something doing next year and to trust God to visit such ventures with His blessings.

“I have prayed and I know that the year 2016 promises to be a year of all sufficiency for us as a nation. I declare that God will cause us to have abundance individually and collectively in the coming year, but only as we seek Him. I encourage everyone to remain steadfast in the faith knowing that God has just started with us as a people and as a nation. This is only the beginning as we have not seen anything yet. There shall be pleasant surprises in 2016,” the bishop said.
